This two-week class is a great portfolio-builder class that introduces the foundations of both drawing and painting, and is designed for the beginner as well as for the already accomplished artist. The first week will focus on the fundamentals of drawing through a series of projects about line, value, texture, and composition, and learning how to truly “see,” and will culminate with the creation of a large photorealistic grid self-portrait in graphite. The second week will take those principles of drawing into painting in oils, with an introduction to color theory and color mixing through the creation of an abstract work, and finishing with a final painting from direct observation, with a choice of portraiture, still-life, or plein-air landscape as subject. Large Scale Painting/ MURAL
Nick Paradis
August 13th - August 17th
9am-3pm
Members $250
NonMembers $270
Grab your large brushes, cans, markers and more! This course will be a big step towards getting the chance to paint on larger scales from 5 ft x 5 ft to 10ft x 10ft. Including a brief history and science of murals, students will be using large pieces of paper, cardboard, or wood to get comfortable and accustomed with this massive transition. A projector will be used for examples and experiments, and available as well for students if they have a particular image they would like to work with. Separate from their individual large scale pieces, a collaborative mural on plywood will be done by the class at the end of the course. Each student will have a section or area to create based on their design or ideas. No prior experience is needed. Materials will be supplied for.
