These photographs by Mary Frank are pretty interesting. Frank (the wife of the Swiss photographer, Robert Frank) is also a painter and a sculptor. Both of those art forms are apparent in these pictures. In fact it’s a bit mind-bending. Initially they appear as paintings…and then your brain reminds you that they’re photos and you begin to sort out the painted, cut-out areas from the landscape behind.
