I met this guy at a workshop in Vermont this winter. He’s a blacksmith. My husband is a blacksmith. They tend to be a creative lot. They need to invent their own tools, fix the ones that break and in general solve problems. Ray has begun making sculpture as well as practical work and the results are surprisingly linear and airy. I wonder how much he thought about the shadows created by the pieces…Ray is one of the nicest people I’ve met in a long time.
