I met the artist at the opening of Everything is So Much, a juried show at the KelleyStelling Gallery in Manchester that we both have work in. Below is a quote…

This ongoing series of vest sculptures, inspired by work uniforms, is about obstacles and challenges. These objects embody self-doubt, uncertainty, or thoughts that hang in the background and weigh us down with questions, thwarted progress, and second-guessing. Words handwritten on ceramic tongues hint at burdens and difficulties:  haunting thoughts and actions, barriers real or invented, unrealized expectations. A vest might suggest protection, flotation, uniform, identification, accessory, warmth, or utility, but these vests manifest the weight and pain of struggle.
