I love his use of color. I am surprised that I like his work as much as I do. There’s a funny, quirky aspect to the paintings. I think it’s that they are hard edged and then…there’s a splotch, a drip, a curved shape that gives you pause. And makes you go huh. Here’s a quote from a review of one of his shows…

I do not know what these words mean…mimesis and simulacra.
I looked them up. Both had to do with ‘imitation’…which didn’t help me to understand the sentence or his work.
I still like the paintings a lot but reviewers often make me weary.
