Using KJSA’s new etching press, beginning or returning students will discover the thrill of peeling the paper off the printing plate to reveal the image they have created. Combining monotype and monoprint making with intaglio and line etching, students will become familiar with the process that was used by Degas, Picasso, Chagall, Durer and many others. No experience necessary.

Non-Toxic Printmaking with Akua Inks

In this 8 week course, participants will work with new non-toxic printing inks called Akua. We will work primarily making monotypes and monoprints. This is a perfect opportunity for painters to add to their arsenal working in a new painterly medium, and beginning printmakers to explore the potential of these new inks. We will work primarily with the viscosity method which allows for wonderful layering and multi colored prints. We will work with both small and large scale prints. Come explore rainbow rolls, chine colle, reduction printing on the school of art’s magnificent printmaking press.
