Community Outreach

Kimball Jenkins is committed to providing quality arts education and appreciation to our community throughout the greater Concord area. KJ’s outreach programming has been developed to expose individuals of all ages to experience art regardless of financial or geographical barriers.

Art Lab

Celebrating its seventh year in existence in 2025, KJ’s Art Lab has served over 900 students since its inception. The free, weekly program, engages students ages 10-14 and offers a drop-in style learning environment with single day projects that relate to themes spanning a period of 10 weeks. The program is led by seasoned artists of the KJ faculty who are trained to be inclusive and have the ability to engage with different learning styles, cultural, and social identities. Art Lab is made possible through support from NH Charitable Foundation’s Rolfe and Rumford Fund.

“This was my daughter’s first experience at Kimball Jenkins, and first time doing any sort of extracurricular activity in a couple of years- so yes, her trying Art Lab was a big deal for our family, and I am so grateful she did! Art class wasn’t built into her school schedule this year, so I knew she was itching to express herself through art. Every week, the instructors are prepared for class with water, snacks, and welcoming energy. They are clear about what art form will be covered and how to do it but also allow for their students to experiment as they go. While my daughter isn’t necessarily passionate about every medium that Art Lab covers, she participates in them all while appreciating the exposure and space to find what mediums she wants to pursue more- ceramics and painting! Art Lab is an incredibly vital resource for our community in Concord, NH and it being accessible to all families living here is just as vital as the program itself. We are so thankful for this incredible opportunity and would love to return for future programs!” - Kelly T.

Open Art Studio

A free, weekly opportunity offered on select Saturdays, providing an imaginative playground for youth artists and their families. During weekly 90-minute sessions, participants can explore an assortment of art materials and mediums, and a professional teaching artist from the KJ faculty provides guidance if desired. The program offers a free, safe, and accessible space for children and families to experience the joy of creating.
