Functional Weaving (ages 8-12) with Meagan Doffing - Spring 1

Ages: Attendee must be between 8 and 12 years of age

This class is thoughtfully designed for beginning weavers ages 8-12

New youth class at KJ! This introductory functional weaving class focuses on teaching the fundamentals of interlacing yarn to create practical, everyday household items. This 5-week continuing class will cover loom setup, pattern drafting, and finishing techniques to produce items like containers, potholders/coasters, purses/pouches, and belts/bookmarks. Participants will use small portable looms using both the Rigid Heddle and Backstrap Band Weaving techniques. As students advance, they can introduce additional techniques like peyote bead stitching, buttons, and/or embroidery. 

Supplies are provided by instructor.

Kimball Jenkins' 5-week classes are designed to be continuous.
