Buttonhole Stitch Book Workshop (one day) - 3/28

The Buttonhole Stitch Book is an easy binding method that can be used to create a soft or hardcover book, and it can be made with a variety of papers. In this one-day workshop with Book Arts faculty Anne McMillan, you will learn to make a soft-covered journal.We will also discuss how to make a hardcover and how the cover can be altered.  You will learn bookbinding techniques, about paper, how to form signatures, and how to stitch this unique binding.

Leaving this workshop, you will have a beautiful book and the knowledge to make similar books for yourself or as gifts.

No experience is necessary for this workshop.

Additional Supplies: 

  • pencil
  • metal ruler (at least 12")
  • 16” x 18” cutting mat
  • If you have a retractable blade cutting knife or Exacto, a bone folder, and an awl, please bring them too - otherwise, I will have extras (do not buy any tools you do not already have)
  • Bring a lunch and something to drink to help you get through the day
