Intro to Calligraphy & Illuminated Letters with Suzanne Lee (Spring 2)

Have you thought about using lettering in handmade books, cards or in your art? Have you ever wanted to use gold in your work but wondered where to begin?

This class is a great way to learn about the exciting world of calligraphy, no experience required!  Students will learn about Copperplate, Blackletter and contemporary work, with an introduction to Illuminated and tooled raised gold letters.

The Italic font will be studied as a base for all lettering arts.  Students will learn using a broad edge fountain pen at a pace that allows them to gain confidence. Lower and upper case letters, numbers and punctuation will be incorporated into finished layouts. 

Calligraphy is a beautiful and useful artistic technique that can be fun and meditative.
