Upcoming Fall Events at Kimball Jenkins

  • FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3: First Fridays at Kimball Jenkins (part of Intown Concord’s First Fridays series). We’re bringing the energy rain or shine with gallery viewing and Make & Take workshops across our historic campus.

    Here are all the details:

6:00–8:00 PM: Artist Reception for The Art & Craft of Photography: An Exploration of Analog Photography by Contemporary Artists, our next upcoming exhibition (free to attend)

The medium of photography finds its origins in the nineteenth century using light sensitive material and chemistry. Kimball Jenkins studio artists Bev, Conway, John Hoglund, Claudia Rippee, Gary Samson and members of the New Hampshire Center of Photography will present their work utilizing 19th and 20th century photographic processes including, cyanotypes, platinum prints, kallitypes, salt prints, photogravure, gelatin silver prints, and wet-plate photography. This exhibition provides a unique and rare opportunity to see original handmade images that explore the techniques that shaped the history of photography.

7:00–9:00 PM: Join us in the Painting Studio for Open Studio with Bob Dorr! Bring your own art materials or current project to work on with other creatives in a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment. All mediums are welcome! • WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8: KJ Lunch and Learn Series presents: History of Photography with Gary Samson, 1-2:30pm. Advanced registration required. KJ’s Lunch and Learn Series will feature a variety of presentations by distinguished speakers, artists, and performers, offering a spectrum of topics to explore.

During the presentation, participants will be able to view historic examples of 19th century photographic processes used from 1840 to 1900 and learn about the difficulties photographers faced creating these images.

Each session will be held on the second Wednesday of the month (September to November 2025 and January to May 2026) in our Carriage House and participants have the option to bring their own bag lunch or place an order in advance with KJ for a boxed lunch prepared by Washington Street Catering (menus vary monthly, dietary restriction options available).
