Old Friends, New Works

The Mansion at Kimball Jenkins

August 22 – September 27, 2025

Friday, September 5: Public Artist Reception, 6:00-8:00pm (free to attend!)

Kimball Jenkins presents Old Friends, New Works, an exhibition of paintings by four artists who worked, taught, and studied at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester. On view in the Mansion galleries, the works by Tricia Gibbs, Betsy Holmes, TylerAnn Mack and Christine Ryan offer a wide range of subject matter, approaches and techniques –abstractions, plein-air landscapes, cityscapes, still life works, and more.

While style and subject matter vary greatly, what binds these works and these artists together is their continued dedication to their craft and their shared experience as students and educators. The exhibition is on view from August 22 through September 27, 2025.

Old Friends, New Works has been curated by Inez McDermott, Independent Curator and Professor Emerita of Art History at New England College, and Gary Samson, 7th Artist Laureate of New Hampshire and Professor Emeritus of Photography, Institute of Art and Design at New England College.

PREVIOUS EXHIBITIONS

ON/OFF THE WALL
The Mansion at Kimball Jenkins
June 20 – August 15, 2025

Kimball Jenkins proudly presents ON/OFF THE WALL, a bold and immersive exhibition celebrating the breadth and innovation of contemporary printmaking across New England. This marks our first collaborative show with Pillar Gallery + Projects, brought to life within our historic Mansion.

ON/OFF THE WALL showcases printmaking artists who defy convention – working across a dynamic range of mediums and scales, from intimate prints to expansive installations. Audiences will encounter works rooted in traditional methods like serigraphy, relief printing, monotypes, and etching, alongside inventive new approaches that expand the very definition of the medium. Expect sculptural prints, three-dimensional pieces, and large-scale works that blur the lines between print, installation, and fine art.

ON/OFF THE WALL thematically explores geometric abstraction, natural forms, and shifting perspectives, inviting viewers to engage with printmaking in unexpected ways. Through this thoughtful curation, the exhibition reflects the evolving dialogue between artists and their environment, pushing the medium forward into new realms of expression.

This exhibition supports and uplifts the growing printmaking studio at Kimball Jenkins Estate and celebrates the ingenuity of regional artists who are redefining what it means to work on and off the wall.
