Writing about art is its own art form. Whether you’re trying to write your artist statement,
looking to write an exhibition review, or just want to respond to visual art via the written word,
this workshop is for you! Through examples, creative prompts, and writing exercises, students
can expect to create and/or fine-tune their artist statements, reviews, essays, or poems, learn
the ins and outs of the art critique, and avoid common art-writing pitfalls. We’ll also touch on
publications, exhibition catalogs, and programs that accept this type of writing.

- Writing utensil
- Notebook and/or computer device
- An art-writing piece they're working on, if any
