Whether you're here to refine your technique, explore a new medium, or simply enjoy the thrill of creation, this course is here to take the fear out of learning to paint and emphasizes individuality and creativity.

Instructor Mike Howat will delve into a basic overview of materials and tools and lead discussions throughout the weeks on color mixing, composition, brushwork, layering and blending, and balancing of value and contrast both individually and as a group. Continual experimentation and practice is deeply encouraged and celebrated.

Students will have the opportunity to work on their own painting of choice. This class may be repeated for those who want to keep improving their skills and advance to another level.
