Printing with Watercolor Workshop with Mary Mead (Summer 1)

Printing with Watercolor Workshop with Mary Mead (Summer 1)
Tuesday | One-day workshop | Summer 1 | 7/15
4:00-8:00pm
Printmaking Studio, Yellow House
If you have a profound love of watercolor painting and want to experience your art in a new way, join KJ Printmaking faculty Mary Mead for an unforgettable 4-hour workshop on Tuesday, July 15!
In this one-day workshop, we will explore printing with watercolor paints and watercolor drawing media. We will paint and draw on frosted vellum, Yupo, and sanded plexiglass plates au plein aire, then return to the studio to print the images on paper using the press. This process can be combined with other monotype techniques to enhance prints with soft, transparent coloration. Mary Mead first saw this process in practice on artist Joan Snyder’s exquisitely colorful prints, in which botanical subject matter and words splash across the paper.
Supplies: Instructor will provide sanded plexi plates on which to work. Participants should provide their own Yupo (if a preferred substrate) and watercolor sets. 2 sheets of paper will be provided to each participant. If you have any questions about supplies, please contact instructor Mary Mead at mary@kimballjenkins.com.
