Collagraph Printing with Mary Mead - Fall 1
Collagraph Printing with Mary Mead - Fall 1
Wednesdays | 6-8pm | Fall 1 | 5 weeks | 9/17-10/15
Printmaking Studio, Yellow House
In this 5-week printmaking class, students will explore collagraph printmaking to create unique monoprints. Collagraph plates are created by gluing and sealing various materials onto a rigid surface. The plate can be inked using a variety of approaches: rainbow rolls, select application, hand coloring, relief rolls and plate wiping more commonly used in etching. Plates can be printed in multiple directions and on top of each other to expand visual complexity.
Students will initially create a set of 6-8 plates of the same size as they learn and explore the process. Inking, plate registration, paper preparation and how to set and use the press properly will all be taught.
Supplies: Please bring a variety of stencils, textured upholstery samples, rubber stamps, lace, etc. Store reference: DIY Craft & Thrift (46 N. Main Street in downtown Concord)
