Calling all superhero fans! In this dynamic 5-week class, students ages 9-12 will learn the fundamental techniques of drawing through the exciting lens of superhero design. Perfect for beginners, this course introduces essential drawing skills while sparking the imagination.

Each week, students will explore the building blocks of figure drawing, facial expressions, costumes, and action poses, all while studying the visual language of comic book art. Students will also learn about line, shape, shading, perspective, and proportion. By the end of the course, every student will develop and draw their very own original superhero character - complete with powers, a backstory, and a signature look.

Whether you dream of becoming a comic book artist or just want to draw with confidence, this class will equip you with the tools to bring your ideas to life - cape optional!

Matt Garofalo has worked in the animation and video game industry for the past 13 years as character designer, storyboard artist, animator and director on animated shows for Netflix, Adult Swim, FOX, Comedy Central, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, HBO MAX, MTV and more. Past works include the shows "BoJack Horseman", "Big Mouth", "Paradise PD", "Harley Quinn", "Mr. Pickles", "The Great North" and multiple other television pilots, commercials, shows, and video games.
