This class is thoughtfully designed for students ages 18+ with some foundational knowledge of writing and drawing.
You know that amazing story idea you’ve been thinking about for years? This is your chance to turn your idea into a book. Don’t have any ideas yet but really want to write a book? That’s okay, too! In this class, designed for writers and illustrators with some foundational knowledge of their craft (basic writing and drawing skills), we will learn the ins and outs of creating an illustrated picture book suitable for submitting to publishers. We will cover everything from idea generation to illustrating your story to how the publishing industry works.
Supplies: Please bring a selection of your favorite picture books to the first class. Contemporary books will be much more relevant for us. You’ll also need a notebook/sketchbook with unlined paper, a pencil, an eraser, a pen, and your imagination. If you have a story or stories you’ve been working on, PLEASE bring them!
