Painting Studio, Yellow House

This course is for students who want to try oil painting for the first time, or those with a little experience who want to develop their skills. The course will address traditional and fundamental techniques of “layered painting”. We will work from direct observation of classroom set-ups, making single-color “under-paintings” to which subsequent layers of color will be added. The plan is to sample the three traditional observational genre - still life, portraiture, and landscape, but decisions of process can be adjusted for the individual student.
