Women have played an important role in art for more than 25,000 years - most often as subjects and models. But there have always been women artists, either working anonymously or loudly proclaiming their right to be considered alongside the men. This art history class will explore the ways that women have been portrayed throughout history and look at the work of many women artists throughout history, those who were famous and those who have been relatively unknown.

This class is designed for those who always wished they had taken an art history class, or that they had paid more attention in art history class, or for those who want to feel a bit more comfortable walking through a museum.

This is a discussion-based class. There are no projects or homework associated with this class, but optional readings will be assigned.

There are no supplies needed for this class, but students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil if notetaking helps with their learning process.
