4:30-7:30pm

Portrait Studio, Carriage House

This unique class will introduce you to different types of journals and also give you the experience of weaving a cover out of colorful papers for your small journal. Using decorative paper, you will cut them into thin strips.  Your instructor, KJ faculty Jean Reed of Murray Hill Weaving, will help you weave your paper into a cover for your journal.

Coffee dyed papers will be supplied to you for signatures inside the journal.  You will make tuck spots, pockets, and belly bands.  We will discuss binding and binding techniques, but in this class you will complete your journals with book rings, allowing you to add or delete signatures and ephemera.  Your journal will measure 5” x 5”. This is a great class for a basketmaker, but NO previous weaving experience is needed. Anyone can do it!

Supplies: Students should bring scissors, a ruler, and a pencil with eraser to class.  Also bring ribbon, buttons, feathers, or photos you would like to incorporate into your journal.
