These little heirloom pieces are very unique and rich in history.  This replica is made just as the Shaker sisters created it many years ago.   It was considered one of their fancy baskets to be sold to ladies visiting their store. Your basket will be woven on a mold with hand pounded ash.  The actual pin cushion is made with kiln-dried sawdust, just as the originals were produced.  Your basket will measure approximately 3” tall by 3” wide.

This class is appropriate for beginner basketmakers or very experienced weavers with an interest in ash weaving and history.

Supplies: Students should bring a hand towel, ruler, scissors and pencil to class. Feel free to contact the instructor, Jean Reed, at Murrayhillweaving@gmail.com with questions.
